Alistair Cope- Guide & Director
Alistair has been walking and cycling in the hills, the mountains and over the moors from his early days. Today, after many years guiding in the UK and abroad, he is focusing on two areas, the West Country and Morocco.
He is a guide for the Dartmoor National Park, a qualified mountain leader a very keen cyclist and MTB guide. In his spare time he helps run a vibrant cycle club in Devon.
Darren Sansom - Guide & Bike Mechanic
We have known Darren for over 10 years. He is an active cyclist and competent mountain biker as well as a qualified mountain leader. His nickname is ‘Mek’ (short for bike mechanic) due to his ability to fix a broken bike anywhere!
Darren lives in Cambridge, but tends to think of 'home' as Devon.
Charities/Fundraising

This is a really important area of work for Velo Ventures. My preference is to work with charities based in the West Country in order that I can deal with matters personally and also serve the region where I live and work.
I have found the best way to take this forward is an initial phone call and then a ‘face to face’ meeting. Please feel free to give me a call if you are a charity or someone looking to take part in a 'challenge' event.

We are proud to be associated with Epic Morocco and in particular we value our relationship with their founder and Managing Director Charlie Shepherd. As you will see from their website, Alistair is their UK Tour Director so the links couldn’t be closer.
Headway Devon is an independent registered charity working to provide essential services to people in the county of Devon with brain injuries, their families and carers. This year Velo Ventures is running a mountain bike fundraising ‘challenge’ event for them in Morocco.

The Prostate Cancer CharityAlistair is acting as a consultant for The Prostate Cancer Charity to help promote the Tour Ride in the South West. He says, “This is a great opportunity to have a brilliant day out and help raise funds for the charity. You can enter one of three rides, so all abilities are catered for”. The rides take place on Sunday 5th September 2010, about a week before the Tour of Britain arrives.
